Yesterday was one of those unforgettable days that fills your heart and stays with you long after it’s over. I had the absolute honor of being a guest speaker for Girl Scout Troop 1682, and let me just say these girls completely blew me away. Their passion for helping others, their curiosity, and their compassion were beyond inspiring. It was a room full of future leaders, changemakers, and kind souls.
We spent time talking about the power of service, especially when it begins at a young age. I shared the story of how Lyric’s Loft came to be how it all started with one simple idea to help just one family affected by autism. I never imagined that idea would blossom into a nonprofit reaching families across five states and counting. Watching the girls light up as they realized the ripple effect of even the smallest act of kindness was so powerful.
One of the biggest highlights of the visit was learning that Tianna, one of the incredible girls in the troop, has chosen Lyric’s Loft as the focus of her Gold Award project. For those who don’t know, the Gold Award is the highest honor in Girl Scouting, awarded to girls who lead impactful projects that create sustainable change in their communities. Tianna’s heart for advocacy and her desire to make a difference left me speechless. I feel truly honored to walk alongside her on this journey and can’t wait to see the meaningful impact she’ll make.
But the most special moment of the day came from one young lady in the troop who is on the autism spectrum. Her mother shared with me that she had been saving up her own money for quite some time to purchase autism awareness pins so she could distribute them throughout the month of April. My heart nearly burst hearing that. As if that wasn't touching enough, this beautiful soul came up to me quietly, gently took the pin off her own shirt, and gave it to me as a gift. I was completely moved to tears. That pin now means more to me than words can express, and I will treasure it always.
And just when I thought the day couldn’t possibly hold more magic, the troop surprised me by voting to donate all of their extra clothing from a previous charity event to Lyric’s Loft. Their generosity, teamwork, and desire to support families affected by autism is something I’ll never forget. These young women are already making the world a better place—and they’re just getting started.
Thank you, Troop 1682, for welcoming me with open arms, for your enthusiasm, and for showing the true meaning of girl power. It’s days like these that remind me why Lyric’s Loft exists and why we’ll never stop reaching for more love, more inclusion, and more hope.
With endless gratitude and love,
